Who’s Who Two

Who’s Who in Equine Compassion Book Volume TWO to be Published

Be in it – Basic Listings don’t cost a thing and the more people we get on board the thicker the volume – the more optimistic and hopeful the project becomes! Please, please, please share with your friends too. We’re collecting information to produce a physical volume featuring the Who’s Who within equine welfare and rescue. We want YOU to be included!

Why?

  • Let’s show the uncaring horse abusers how many of us there are who care!
  • Let’s be an organized force on the page!
  • Let’s be made into a physical book so someone with a casual interest can see immediately and feel the subliminal heft of our power!

Do YOU Qualify?

This is open to individuals and organizations alike, whether you’re a registered non-profit or just a closet do gooder. Doesn’t matter. What does matter is that if you care – your tell the world in this way!
I’ve created a pledge page on www.indiegogo.com for you to get more page space in this professionally designed book. Any profits generated from pledges will go to send me to the International Equine Conference so I can blog about the proceedings and the issues right here as well as on Facebook, Youtube and Twitter.
If your organization is on this page contact us and make sure your info is current so it can be included in both a physical printed hard copy book to be available on Amazon.com as well as a clickable live-linked online version.

Who’s Already in? These folks!

Quick Info Collection Form

I’m collecting Your Info via a short and sweet form here!

Do You Make a Living Through Horses?

See the Project: http://www.indiegogo.com/whos-who-in-equine-rescue.

Images of the book will be posted here as soon as they’re created!

You Do NOT Have to Pledge to Be in the Book!

Want to be included? Just comment your info below. Website, focus, contact info, facebook page links…..tell me and you’ll be included!

Here’s a video of the project pitch:

Pledged Space Specs:

The book is slated to be published this fall using the online book publishing services through Amazon.com. The great thing about this is they will make our book available through all their regular outlets in a “Print on Demand” format. What this means is anyone with access to the Amazon.com store (and their many affiliates) will be able to have a book printed at a super reasonable rate using familiar services. Cool, no? It’s going to be offered at cost so the price can be as low as possible.

Here are the specs for each individual space available:

Basic Listing FREE – several lines

$10 Mini Foal – 3.5″w x 2.25″h -1/8 page space

$25 Foal - 3.25″w x 5″h – 1/4 page space

They can be submitted in color or black and white.

All interior ad space inside the book will be converted to black and white/grayscale to keep the cost of the book down.

The online version of the book at yudu.com will be in glorious full color.

Any website links beginning with http:// will be auto-detected live linked on the online version of the book!

If you would like me to make your ad for you – please supply all copy, logos and images to be utilized. Make sure you own the copyright to any images or logos you supply.

If you would like to commemorate an equine or event or some such, be sure to supply a nice image!

You can absolutely remain anonymous if you choose to do so – though a pseudonym or initials and state or town and state will help tell the story of our reach when we’re all together on the printed page.

Question

Should we call it: Who’s Who in Equine Welfare or Who’s Who in Equine Compassion? Comment your choice!

Sample 1/8 page ad - 3.5" x 2.25"

As the Who’s Who in Equine Welfare book project takes shape I will be posting ads and includes so this thing starts becoming REAL for more and more people. Below is the first “In Memorium” ad to be composed for inclusion.

Compassionate horse lover, Sabrina Connaughton in Washington state recently lost an equine friend she rescued from a filthy living situation. His last few months on this earth were safe, warm and comfortable for this old soul. Though he was with her just a short while this old boy touched Sabrina’s heart deeply. She is commemorating his place in her life and her dedication to making the world a better place for horses with this 1/8 side ad (3.5″ x 2.25″)  to be in the book. You can also place such an ad by pledging just $10 towards the project.

Be Included!

Pledge here: http://www.indiegogo.com/whos-who-in-equine-rescue

Or be included for FREE by taking this short survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/RGFGB6H

Ads will be in full color online and printed in black and white in the book (to keep it’s price as accessible as possible)

International Equine Conference

For several years now I’ve been working on ways to bring those involved in equine welfare and rescue together. I’m not alone in my quest. Next month the first ever International Equine Conference will be held near Washington, DC. This series of equine welfare and issues seminars have been assembled to help bring under one roof the current events people involved in ethical equine stewardship are facing. From all over the United States big voices from within several fields of compassion will be gathering to present their work, their issues and their concerns.

What a great idea! Just wanted to add my 2 cents about the name of your organization. The #1 mistake that people make when creating a new business online is the name of their business. When you create a name for the business, don’t think creative and unique, think SEO and Google.
What type of ‘keywords’ will someone put into thier search box when looking for your organization. Do some keyword searches yourself and see what comes up. Ask your followers what searches they do to find you. Then you come up with a name that has those keywords in it. However, you need to be in the right market of search results. If you come up with too many competitors, then you won’t be found, and if your words are too low on the search engines, then you also won’t be found. You want to come up with competition, in your matching market, but middle ground results. If that makes sense to you.
Bottom line, the name you choose for the organization will make a difference in your efforts to market it. Better SEO name, then less effort will be needed to get results. Name that is not SEO compatible, more effort will be needed to market. Not impossible, but more effort needed.

Thanks Diana. Merry Horses as a name came as an offshoot from Facebook where I had to create a namey sounding name to go with another project I headed (that was EquineConnection). Since then that network has been retired and Merry Horses has been converted into a Facebook page. This blog grew out of those circumstances. With over 5000+ likes at the moment and an inability to change a Facebook page name – I’m somewhat stuck at the mo. Good thing I got HappyArt.com for my real job, lol. :) Oh, and did you wish to be a part of the book? Comment how you’d like your free listing to appear.

While this episode was intomrafive on how hippotherapy is used by occupational therapists, it left out the realm of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP), in which a licensed psychotherapist and a horse trainer work with the client doing psychotherapy by using the horse as a vehicle for interpretation to help the client work on their issues. I’d love to hear an episode on this mode of therapy.

I truly believe that by working together we can stop the slaughter of our beloved horses and save the wild horses. I am so blessed to have met SO many people who truly care about the welfare of horses. https://www.facebook.com/AZStearns#!/AZStearns

What a great idea! I too, have rescued a horse and kept him until the very end. As a horse lover for 25+ years I have seen some pretty sad situations. Your book sound great to raise awareness for horses out there!
